Meeting #3 - Note to Parents

We have earned the yellow daisy petal (which will be presented at our first ceremony on 12/13)!

• The meeting started with the girls being “Friendly and Helpful” by helping clean the tables.
  
• We read a story about Sunny the sunflower, the yellow daisy petal. With Sunny we learned and practiced being “Friendly and Helpful”.
  
• We engaged in a discussion about things we have done in the past to be friendly and helpful.
  
• How do we practice the skill? The craft today was the “A Helping Hand Was Here” card. We decided to leave the card behind after doing a chore or helping around the house. So parents, watch out for the “A Helping Hand Was Here” card.
  
• We did not have time to do the “Helping Hand” coloring page, so we sent it home with the girls.

Other things we did today:

• We tried the Girl Scouts Lemon cookies, which was a big hit! We talked about the cookie sale, different cookie types, price, and order forms. We also told the girls that next year they will be voting on how to use the funds raised by the cookie sale.
  
• Signed an invitation to the Investiture ceremony for the parents
  
• Talked about the pin, petals, and “surprise” patch they will be earning during the ceremony on the 13th
  
• Brainstormed on what to do during the ceremony
  
• Practiced the Girl Scouts Promise, Law, and a few songs for the Investitude ceremony.

IMPORTANT Notes

• You will find in your daughters backpack a Cookie Sale Permission form which should be signed and returned to Tara or I, if you choose to participate in the sale. You will also find the order form and the money envelope. Once we receive the Permission form back, the girls can start selling cookies to friends and family. Each box of cookie is $4. We will be communicating further details on the sale soon.
  
  
• I got responses from everyone regarding the meeting at my house on Saturday 12/17, so this date is confirmed. I will send you my address via email.
  
  
• Next meeting will be Tuesday, Dec 13th when we will be having a short ceremony where the girls will be earning their Daisy membership pin, and the petals they have earned to date. You should find an invitation on the girls back pack. Snack will not be needed for that day, as we will have refreshments for everyone. Please send in the vest/tunic, and don’t forget to bring your camara! :-)
  
  
• There was a paper sent home today with a few things we would like the girls to practice for the ceremony. If you did not receive it, please send me an email and I will forward you a copy.
