Welcome back to
our 2nd year of Daisy Girl Scouts.
We had our first meeting this Tuesday, September 11th. The girls were soooo excited! This year we have 14 girls in our troop.
We had 2 special
guests this week:

and her
daughter Bridget Owen – Ambassador Girl Scouts
Bridget has
been a Girl Scouts since kindergarten (11 years!), and has been the top cookie
seller in the area. She showed our girls
her vest, talked about the pins/patches/awards she has earned, and all of the
exiting places she has visited as a Girl Scouts. Thank you Bridget and Mrs Owen for visiting our troop!
We will be
working on the Flower Garden Journey this year.
The girls worked in teams to plant a mini-garden – Parsley, Basil,
Chives and Four O’clock flowers. They
will be responsible for watering the mini-garden and tracking the progress
during every meeting till November. We
will be posting pictures.
As part of this
journey the girls will be challenged to participate in a “Take Action” project. This project
can be anything from planting or cleaning up an area in the community. Example: a garden at STB, or at Tower Hill
Botanic Garden. We will need your help to come up with ideas and execute this
project. Please let me know if you are
interested in participating.
We are also looking
for parent volunteers to help us run the “Nut
Sale”, which will run from 9/28 to 10/28. The responsibilities are to enter the orders online,
and help distributing the products within our troop when it comes in (around
11/16/12). The training on the online
ordering system will happen next week. This
is a great opportunity for the girls to raise their own money for events. We
need your help to make this program work!
